We’ve all been there. Our favourite television show has a particularly riveting episode and is going on a six week hiatus. That’s too long, we think. We want to know what happens. We need some sort of filler. What are we going to do until then? One answer: fanfiction.
 
Fanfiction is where fans go when they just can’t get enough of a subject. Like original fiction, it’s addicting and easy to fall into because we’re all familiar with the characters and their backgrounds already. It takes little to fall into and one can waste hours reading about their favourite musician or favourite book characters.
 
Often times what begins as fanfiction becomes original fiction once the author realizes that there is a real back story to their creation, enough to stand alone. On Wattpad, we get tons of fanfiction entries every day, but by far we have some Wattpad favourites. Kicking off the list of Wattpad favourite subjects to write fanfiction about is, of course:
 
1. Justin Bieber:
 
 
Bieber was born on March 1, 1994, in London, Ontario, and was raised in Stratford, Ontario. Bieber’s mother, Patricia Lynn “Pattie” Mallette, was 18 years old when she became pregnant with her son. Mallette, who worked a series of low-paying office jobs, raised Bieber as a single mother in low-income housing. Bieber has maintained contact with his father, Jeremy Jack Bieber, who married another woman and had two children. Bieber’s paternal great-grandfather was a German immigrant to Canada. His mother’s ancestry is French Canadian.  
During his childhood, Bieber was interested in hockey, soccer, and chess; he often kept his musical aspirations to himself. As he grew up, Bieber taught himself to play the piano, drums, guitar, and trumpet. In early 2007, when he was twelve, Bieber sang Ne-Yo’s “So Sick” for a local singing competition in Stratford and placed second. Mallette posted a video of the performance on YouTube for their family and friends to see. She continued to upload videos of Bieber singing covers of various R&B songs, and Bieber’s popularity on the site grew.

The series follows the life of Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) a 17-year-old girl, who falls for a 162-year-old vampire named Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley). Their relationship becomes increasingly complicated as Stefan’s vicious and malevolent elder brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) returns to Mystic Falls with a plan to wreak havoc on the town and also to plan a vendetta against his younger brother. Both brothers begin to show affection towards Elena, mainly because of her resemblance to their past love Katherine. It is revealed that Elena, a distant relative of Katherine, is Katherine’s doppelganger, who eventually returns with plans against the trio.

Living With Damon and Stefan by Dark-Violet

 3. Twilight:
 
 
Twilight is a series of four vampire-themed fantasy romance novels by American author Stephenie Meyer. It charts a period in the life of Isabella “Bella” Swan, a teenage girl who moves to Forks, Washington, and falls in love with a 104-year-old vampire named Edward Cullen. The series is told primarily from Bella’s point of view, with the epilogue of Eclipse and Part II of Breaking Dawn being told from the viewpoint of character Jacob Black, a shape-shifter. The unpublished Midnight Sun is a retelling of the first book, Twilight, from Edward Cullen’s point of view.

The main story arc concerns Harry’s quest to overcome the evil dark wizard Lord Voldemort, whose aim is to conquer the wizarding world and subjugate non-magical people, and who seeks to destroy all those who stand in his way, such as Harry’s parents.

 5. The Hunger Games:
   
The Hunger Games is a young-adult science fiction novel written by Suzanne Collins. It was originally published on September 14, 2008, byScholastic. It is the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy. It introduces sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a post-apocalypticworld in the country of Panem where North America once stood. This is where a powerful government working in a central city called the Capitolholds power. In the book, the Hunger Games are an annual televised event where the Capitol chooses one boy and one girl from each district to fight to the death. The Hunger Games exist to demonstrate not even children are beyond the reach of the Capitol’s power.
