WATTPAD BRINGS YOU A GUEST POST FROM AISLING FITZSIMONS, AUTHOR OF AISLING’S DIARY:
Hello my lovelies!
First of all, I want to thank all of my Wattpad fans for your amazing comments and support. I hope you’re enjoying my Summer Diary as much as you enjoyed my first diary. Stay tuned for a new chapter and episode every Tuesday and Thursday on Wattpad.
After sharing with you 5 things I wish boyfriends would do, on my second post I’m sharing my advice on how to get over an ex-boyfriend and move on from a breakup. This is the advice I usually give to my friends and I’d like for you to share your tips as well in the comments, boys included.

Wattpad brings you a guest post from featured writer Leah Crichton:
The one question I get asked a lot as a writer: “Where does your inspiration come from?” You may be surprised at my answer but I doubt it. In fact, you may be inclined to agree.
There are so many things about this life that give me cause to celebrate each day. My family, coffee, butterflies, lip gloss, black and white photographs, reading and of course…writing. For me, writing goes hand in hand with one other thing that I couldn’t possibly live without.

Some people say silence is golden. And that’s fine, for them. But for me, silence is dreadful. My iPod is like another limb. I’d be lost without it.
I. Love. Music.
What does my major obsession with music have to do with writing? It is single-handedly, where most of my inspiration comes from. My first novel, Amaranthine was inspired by two songs that played back to back on my iPod.
My second novel which will be featured on Wattpad, Celebrity Status has also been inspired by music.
The book shares its title with a song by a Canadian band, Marianas Trench. As the title suggests, it’s about becoming a celebrity. The first time I heard it I thought it would make a good premise for a novel.
So many musicians live on my beloved iPod. I have playlists for reading, writing, cleaning, working, dancing… breathing. Some of my other favorite bands to write by: Better than Ezra, Breaking Benjamin, Lifehouse, The Maine, Mayday Parade, Every Avenue, Hedley, Maroon Five, The Midway State, Simple Plan, Three Days Grace, The Fray, Augustana…just to name a few.

“Will Embry risk everything just to be with her? Will Annie ever understand that being different is okay?”
Life has never been easy for Julianna. It’s not easy being the only plain one in the family with two popular siblings. It’s not easy being the glasses and braces-bearing nerd. It’s not easy being socially awkward. And most of all, it’s not easy having a crush on school heartthrob Aidan Owen, especially when he is dating her next-door neighbour, the she-devil Whiteney Donnelly. From junior high to now, Aidan is the reason that everything is bearable to Julie, even though he barely noticed her existence. That is, until the day she overheard their conversation. She decided it’s time to change, but will this change bring good, or bad?
“Charming and very well written. Character development is nicely done and I sincerely cannot wait for the next chapter the be posted. It is worth a read!”

He grabbed my shoulders and pushed me back against the brick wall. Pain shot through me but none of that mattered anymore. “Don’t you ever do that again,” he growled, having a hard time keeping his canines in place. “I’m not your little puppet. I don’t listen to what you tell me,” I smirked. “Yes, you do,” he scowled..

To coin an old phrase, “What do we talk about when we talk about love?”
Do we mean romance? Lust? Sex? Desire?
All of the above? More?
First I think we need to ask — and answer —- what is love?
Indeed, the trickiest question of them all!
Love is an emotion.
Love is also an action.
We’re all familiar with the swooning of romance, but what happens during those periods of a relationship when we’re not “in love,” but still love our partner? How do you express that love?
Most famous are the grand gestures. Whether it’s John Cusack holding up a boom box in “Say Anything” with “In Your Eyes” playing; running down the airport terminal to catch our “soul mate” before they get on the plane; or having 7,432,107 rose petals sprinkled on your lover’s bed, we know it when we see it.
But what about the more subtle acts? Like passing up a trip you really want to take — and have been planning for months — to comfort your wife/husband/boyfriend/girlfriend when something goes terribly wrong. You want to be there for them, but you also want what to take your trip. And you give it up. It’s an action you wouldn’t do for just anyone, but you do it. And you do it without expecting your partner to overtly thank you for it. You do it because you choose to.
An act of love.
There are countless others.
Or when we talk about love, do we mean the heart pounding, weak-in-the-knees avalanche that bowls us over — even when the target of our desire doesn’t reciprocate, or even know about how we feel? Unrequited love?
Or is it just being horny as dog and having our nether regions lead our hearts into all sorts of unpredictable situations?
Whether it’s Shakespeare’s beautiful sonnets, Franklin P. Jones, who said, “Love doesn’t make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile,” or a simpleton who says, “dude, you’re, like, friggin’ hot,” love comes in all shapes and sizes, and is expressed in innumerable ways.
What do we talk about when we talk about love?
To each one of us, the answer is different. And ask the question of the same person once, twice or fifty times throughout their lives, and chances are the answer will almost undoubtly differ, whether in subtle or overt ways.
Love is the greatest mystery of them all.
But what a mystery!
And in keeping with the spirit of love and romance, I will be attending Lunacon 2011, in Rye, NY, March 18-20, where I will be a guest speaker on the panel: Unhappily Ever After: Writing Love Outside the Romance Formula Even though my novel Finders Keepers is a hilarious, backpacking romp with a sci-fi/fantasy twist, it also delves into the ideas of love, lust, romance and desire … and how that affects the way we see ourselves, and the decisions we make. And being the only guy on the panel should make it extra fun!
I hope to see you there. And for those who can’t make it, I plan on reporting back on what we talked about when we talked about love. For more information about Lunacon, please visit: http://2011.lunacon.org/
